Starting a job in Switzerland for third-country nationals (with Swiss employment contract)

People from non-EU/EFTA countries can only work in Switzerland if, among other things, the priority of nationals has been taken into account - this is often difficult, but not impossible.

In order to obtain this permit, the admission requirements under the Foreign Nationals and Integration Act (FNIA) must also be fulfilled cumulatively. However, for the local employment of third-country nationals, the hurdle of the priority of nationals must also be overcome. Experience has shown that this particular requirement is the greatest obstacle. The application documents must show that no other suitable person with Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship could be found to fill the vacant position.
